The school summer holidays are upon us again and we need to choose what to do with our kids regardless of the weather. We can generally take a trip to the coast and if we are lucky (or unlucky) the weather is going to be scorching hot and we can laze on the beach aka the Costa del Brighton. Alternatively we can pack the kids into the vehicle, picnic basket, shades, sun tan lotion etc... get to the sea-side only to obtain the weather has changed and it's cold and or raining.
If you're visiting from the continent, it can be continually a issue as to what to wear on each day trip out - be prepared for roasting hot and freezing cold and wet - and walk around searching like a tourist which is ready for anything. Apart from enjoying yourself as you might be too busy carrying everything except the kitchen sink. The joys of English weather!
As a terrific option we can constantly take a trip to London, by train and bus preferably (unless you might be ready for the Congestion Charge) and then pay a visit to one of London's historical (and generally hysterical) theatres. No matter if you obtain your tickets on-line or queue in London - (best not from a tout!) - you will find always some brilliant shows to see, which includes comedy, drama, musicals and more! To try to assist visitors from Germany, the website at http://www.uklondontheatretickets.com has produced a translated version (mostly in German) at http://www.londontheatretickets.de It's worth a go to if only to find out where to go if you get to London, as there's a helpful on-line theatre guide which consists of travel guidance. There's live ticket availability for theatres, The London Eye, Madame Tussauds and far more! With top shows to see for instance Phantom of The Opera, Lion King, Les Miserables, Mary Poppins and more, why risk the weather?
One of the good shows to see is Evita;. this is what has been written about the show...
"Eva Peron utilized her beauty and charisma to rise meteorically from the slums of Argentina to the presidential mansion as First Lady. She won international acclaim and adoration as a champion of the poor, whilst glamour, power and greed created her 1 of the 21st century's most main political celebrities. With its multi award winning production team and new orchestrations, EVITA tells Eva Peron's passionate and tragic story through Andrew LLoyd Webber's most dazzling score and Tim Rice's renowned lyrics.
EVITA originally ran in London for seven Years and won the Olivier award for Musical of the Year and seven Tony Awards on Broadway. Songs contain:
Don't Cry For Me Argentina, A different Suitcase In An additional Hall, Oh What a Circus and You must Adore ME.
Whether you check out a London theatre in the course of the summer or take a trip to the beach - do it having a smile - and think of September when everybody is back at school!
